Artists from all over Lenawee County, including Tecumseh, will be at the Art-A-Licious downtown Adrian Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20. Among the Tecumseh artists demonstrating their art work will be fiber artist Ann Flora, stained glass artist Pat Deere, potter Bryan VanBenschoten and his son, painter Elijah VanBenschoten. Along with the fine art exhibits there will be musical entertainment, including the Tecumseh Big Band and a Taste of Lenwee featuring foods from are restaurants.
The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center will hold its Facing Forward program on Saturday, Sept. 20. The program is designed to help those adult patients who have completed cancer treatment and wonder what’s next. The program will include information from U-M Cancer Center experts about topics such as: returning back to work and access to health insurance. The program will also offer tips on lifestyle choices including nutrition, exercise and weight management post cancer treatment. Facing Forward will additionally offer participants the opportunity to talk with other cancer survivors.
The event, which is free and open to the pubic, begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. with resources and refreshments available. It will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott, 3205 Boardwalk, Ann Arbor.
Participants will receive a “Survivorship Notebook®” from the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Participants are encouraged to bring one additional caregiver or guest.
Registration is encouraged and free parking is available for the event.

Tecumseh VFW Ladies Auxiliary will host the annual Gold Star Mothers dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Hall-Slater VFW Post, 427 N. Evans St. A social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.
Co-hosting the event will be the Ladies Auxiliary of the Annis-Flint VFW Post in Adrain. The auxiliary will also be playing card Bingo, so please bring a wrapped white elephant gift.

The Annual Turkey Supper hosted by the Britton Congregational Christian Church will be held Wednesday, Oct.15, 2008, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The menu includes tgurkey, dressing, real mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade cranberry relish, coleslaw, squash, rolls and beverages. Join Bixby Medical Center on Sat., Oct. 18, for Graze to Raise, a 5K walk and taste event that will benefit the local Hickman Cancer Center at Bixby. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., with a balloon release at 10:10 a.m. to begin the walk at Bixby. More than 16 food stations will be spread throughout the 5K course that begins behind Bixby Medical Center and Hickman Cancer Center at the registration/finale tent and winds through the surrounding neighborhoods. A special “Sweet Ending” will take place at 12:30 p.m.
Register your friends and family and raise pledges in addition to your registration fee to be eligible for a chance in the final drawing. Registration is $40 for adults 18 years and older and $15 for students nine to17 years of age. Children eight-years-old and under are free.

The Adrian College Music Department will host two choral festivals for local Michigan schools on Sunday, Oct. 19 and 26 beginning at 3 p.m. in the Adrian College Chapel. These free concerts will feature choirs from Adrian, Tecumseh, Bedford, Onsted, and the Roeper School. The Adrian College Choir will also perform. Doors will open at 2:45 p.m.
At the choral festivals, you will have the opportunity to hear each of the choirs perform and then watch as the adjudicator, Dr. Phillip Silvey, works with each group on improving their performance. Join us for a wonderful opportunity to hear some of the best high school choirs in our area.
