Tecumseh Herald

To the Editor,

You can't request more than 20 challenges without solving them. Your previous challenges were flushed.

I thought I would write this letter to tell people about the play “It’s a Wonderful Life,” playing at our own Tecumseh Center for the Arts on Maumee Street, Tecumseh. I would like to express how fantastic a job the people in it and producing it did. (Of course, nothing ever goes completely perfect, but it was well worth going to see it even with a few glitches — I went both days and it was even better the second night so this weekend it should be close to perfect!!)

When I heard that they were going to do this play, I thought, “How will they ever put that movie into a live theatre mode and get the points across?” but when I saw it, I wondered no more. It was very cleverly done and quite intriguing to see how they pulled it off.
You might that that I might be a little prejudiced in my praise, as my son and his wife, Elden (Ted) and Karena (Cabla) Cattell play the part of George and Mary Bailey and their eldest daughter Assumpter plays ZuZu, the youngest Bailey. Also my daughter Jane Cattell is in it with bit parts and being a townsperson and two of her children, Montgomery Hall and Vena Hall, play two of the Bailey children plus my other daughter, Sarah Cattell Holtz has bit parts and is in the townspeople and also worked on props and marketing. Also, Karena’s Aunt Joyce (Cabla) and her husband, J.D. Lancaster, and their two children, Juliana and Jared (from Clinton) are in it.

BUT, other than that, I’m an objective viewer (you’ll have to come and see for yourself if I am) and thought everyone in it did a marvelous job and I really think people who liked the movie or who have never seen it should see the play.

The story line is a great one for this time of year as it shows how a person can pull themselves up out of an upsetting and unsettling situation in their lives by putting a more positive outlook on it by changing their perspective of the situation.

The show played last Friday and Saturday at TCA and everyone I talked to thought it was delightful and I wanted to inform the community that they haven’t lost the opportunity to still see it, as it will be presented again this Friday and Saturday, December 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Also music lovers, it is a musical and they are accompanied by the Tecumseh Pops Orchestra, who did a nice job also.

No excuses now, I know people who drove a two-hour drive to come and see it and they thought it was “wonderful.” If you read this letter, thank you — and come see the play for yourself! Also thanks to the Herald for its coverage of it.
