Josephine Parker

Josephine Parker, 95, was born Jan. 27, 1914, in Owosso, Mich.  She passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2009, in Tecumseh.  She was the daughter of Worthy and Allie Cooper and had an older sister Opal.  Jo, as her Tecumseh Place friends fondly called her, graduated from Owosso High School in 1931.  She attended Oberlin College in Ohio and Michigan State University.

Jo lived in Owosso most of her life.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Owosso.  On Feb. 15, 1936, she married Husted Smith Parker.  He predeceased Jo in 1977.  Jo moved to Tecumseh in 2001 to be closer to her loving family.

She is survived by her daughter, Joie (Ben) Thomas of Tecumseh and by her son, Jim Parker of Indian River, Mich.  She has one granddaughter, Kristin (Ben) VanWyk of Wyoming, Mich and two great-grandsons.

Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Owosso.  There will be no public visitation or service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Arrangements were made by the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home.
