Annual U.S. 12 garage sale spreads across state for 212 miles

To the Editor,

This is a reminder to the business and property owners along U.S. Hwy. 12. It’s time again to start planning for the 7th Annual “Heritage Trail’s Longest Garage Sale,” Friday through Sunday, Aug. 7-8-9 (Sponsored by the State of Michigan and is always the second weekend in August). It is advertised to run from Detroit to New Buffalo (212 miles). But so far, Detroit, Ypsilanti and Saline have not participated.

This is an excellent opportunity for business owners and residents to celebrate U.S. 12 becoming a Heritage Trail and to participate by having a yard sale on their own property or rent a space, where provided, to sell your items, promote a product, business or service.

This event brings a huge amount of people from neighboring states and throughout Michigan into our area that weekend.

Our business has participated in this event for the past six years in the Irish Hills and welcomes anyone who would like to join us or just needs more information.

Hi! I have just came

Hi! I have just came across
this post. I love garage sales - it must have been amazing! Maybe I will be
able to check it myself next year...
For
those who would like to organize a yard sale on a smaller scale I can recommend
a website where you can find some tips, printable labels and signs.

US Hwy. 12 Mich.'s Heritage Trail Longest Garage sale.

Thanks for printing my letter and helping to get the word out about the US 12 Longest Garage sale. As usual,  the Irish Hills Antiques Flea Market in the Irish Hills area is booked with over 40+ spaces full, for the three day sale - Fri. Sat and Sun. 10 -4 pm. People realize and have seen for themselves the huge amount of people who come out  for the longest garage sale.  So they are taking advantage of it, by selling unwanted items and promoting their own business or services, etc. Everyone has fun and looks forward to it every yr. Happy Trails to ya!  Maria
