Walberg will attempt to reclaim House seat lost to current Rep. Mark Schauer

Tim Walberg
Tipton resident Tim Walberg has announced that he will be running for the 7th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, a seat Mark Schauer won when the pair squared off in last year’s election. Walberg represented the district from 2007 to 2009.
“I cannot sit idly by while Congressman Schauer votes to raise taxes, spend trillions we don’t have and bring the failed Granholm strategies he advanced in Michigan to Washington D.C.,” Walberg said.
“In contrast, I will fight for Michigan families by working to balance the budget, move America toward energy independence, and provide across-the-board tax relief to reward hard work and spur job creation. I trust the American people, while Mark Schauer trusts big government,” Walberg said.

Tim Walberg
Obviously Mr. Walberg has overlooked the fact that voters wanted change which is why we elected Mark Schauer. It is an outrage that right-wingers continue to raise the issue of taxes in their argument for things to stay the same and get worse! Taxes are what pay for the commons - the things we all benefit from - roads, bridges, police, schools, fire department, etc.........Those who are fortunate enough to be doing well in this economy are doing so because the average person, including those who are not doing well, have supported the services or products they provide! It is only right that they give something back, that being higher taxes for the wealthy, and lower taxes for the rest of us. In this time of crises, all economic experts, including Nobel prize winner Paul Krugman, have said we are going to have to spend more money in order to turn the economy around - that means locally as well as globally. Let's give Representative Schauer a chance to prove he stands for change before we join a campaign to turn power back over to those who got us into this mess in the first place such as Tim Walberg!
I thought Walberg sounded
I thought Walberg sounded fake when he was in office, and I think he sounds fake when he's out of office too.
His comments remind me of the situation with the roads in Raisin Twp, which prides itself on low taxes (although people still complain about them). Yeah, great, you have lower taxes than in the city of Tecumseh, but at least our roads don't suck (Raisin Ctr. south of Sutton or Sutton east of Rogers, for example)
Michigan's where it's at b/c the Big 3 sold lousy cars for way too long and too many people are trained for jobs that have left and aren't coming back. It could be Granholm, DeVos, or God at the helm and we'd still be in the same spot.
Amen
Amen Kristen. Our government has an impossible job: making everyone happy. Not all programs will benefit everyone, and that gets people on edge. Yelling at liberals for taxing too much is a lame excuse Mr. Walberg. Not all taxes are hogwash. No one wants to pay for better roads when they can just keep their money, but we have to care for our roads (and many other things).
And like you said, Michigan's stuck between a rock and a hard place with how reliant our economy is on the auto industry. Neither a liberal or a conservative could save our state right now. We've got a lot of transitioning to do.
