ROGER CARL WILLIAMS

Roger Carl Williams, 78, of Raisin Township died suddenly on Friday, February15, 2008 at home. He was born April 10, 1929 in Tipton, the son of Carl W. and Bernice (Ruesink) Williams. On April 10, 1953 he was married to Charlene Joseph and she survives.

Roger was employed at Tecumseh Sash and Door, Pallox of Clinton, and retired from Russell  Finch and Sons of Milan as a driver.   He was a devoted life member of Underwood-Orr Post #34 for over 50 years and served 3 years as Commander, 10 years as Adjutant, many years as fish fry chairman, and a member of the Honor Guard. He was also very active in Lenawee County 4-H. Roger enjoyed hunting and camping and spending time with his grandchildren. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed at Frenchman Flats in Las Vegas where he witnessed atomic bomb testing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Greg (Susan) Williams of Adrian; two daughters, Janet Brennan of Saline and Darlene (Chris) Downard of Tecumseh; one son-in-law Richard Mukensturm of  Adrian, one brother, Richard (Joyce) Williams of Hollywood, Maryland; one sister, Mary (Dale)  Dennison of Milan; eleven grandchildren, Nathanial Bates, W. Ryan Williams, Heather Hudson, Crystal Ackeron, Laura Brennan, Zach Williams, Ben Downard, Bryan Downard, Ashley Mukenstrum, H. John Brennan, and Bryce Downard; three great-grandchildren, Breanna, Aiden, and Taylor. and his faithful companion Gabe.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alberta Finkbeiner, and two daughters, Karlene Rae Williams, and Beverly Kay Williams-Mukensturm.

Visitation was held at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes on Sunday, February 17, 2008.  The funeral service was held on Monday, February 18  at the funeral home.  Interment was in Tipton cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Tecumseh V.F.W. Post # 4187 and American Legion Post #34.
