Karyn S. Forbes-Thomas

Karyn S. Forbes-Thomas, 62, of Tecumseh, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went home to her Lord Jesus on May 21, 2010, surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness.  She was born Jan. 16, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Kingston and Elizabeth (Cronenberger-Guhl) Forbes.  She was united in marriage to John F. Thomas on Aug. 28, 1970.

Karyn was a self employed artist for many years.  Her works are admired by many in homes and buildings including the British Tea Pantry in Tecumseh, her church, Tecumseh Assembly of God, Domino Farms, Ann Arbor and the Washtenaw Christian Academy to name a few.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, buying and selling antiques and celebrating one of her many talents as a superb cook preparing many meals for festive gatherings with her family and friends.  Karyn was a 1966 graduate of Monroe Jefferson High School where she was a cheerleader, homecoming queen and involved in school activities and programs.  The greatest joy in her life was God and her family.  She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, Karyn is survived by her daughter, Karianne (Dale) Epkey of Kalamazoo, Mich.: her sons, J. Scott Thomas of Ashville, NC, the Rev. Jeffrey (Erica) Thomas of Chelsea and the Rev. James (Jennifer) Thomas of Kalamazoo, Mich.: two sisters; Deborah (Bob) Henning of Lake Milton, Ohio, and Cynthia (Rob) McKenzie of Covington, Mich.; and eight wonderful grandchildren, whom she cherished.  
She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 25, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.  Services were held at the Tecumseh Assembly of God Church on Wednesday with Pastor Tom March officiating.  Burial followed in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.  
Karyn colored our world with vibrancy and bright colors.  In honor of her life, the family requested that visitors celebrate her life by wearing bright colors to her visitation and services.
