It was an exciting night for Stockbridge’s varsity girls basketball team when it stepped out onto Tecumseh’s High School’s basketball court for the first time, on Thursday, Feb. 11, but not so fun when losing the contest 32-18.

The win was the Indians’ third of the season and they owned the contest right from the start. Tecumseh finished the opening quarter with an 11-2 lead.

The Indians only allowed Stockbridge three points in the second quarter but only scored four points themselves to finish the first half ahead 15-5. Stockbridge lost one of its key players in the quarter with Katie Crockett getting caught up and hurting her knee when going after a loose ball.

The Indians outscored Stockbridge 12-1 in the third quarter and went to the fourth with a 27-6 lead.

A slower pace by the Indians in the final quarter allowed Stockbridge to score 12 points to finish the game.

Allie Stephenson led Tecumseh (3-13) with seven points while Shannon Peake added six points. Katelyn Dykas finished the game with five points for Tecumseh.

Stockbridge was led by Jasmine Holloway.
