Drunk driving, speeding, not coming to a complete stop, etc.
The law enforcement officer's professional judgement should always prevail because that's what we hire them to do. If you want machines to police, hire machines.
Professional Judgement?
Professional Judgement? Are you serious? What Briggs did was Very Poor judgement and went way beyond even police officer discretion.....McCrate had a history. Cop or not. The lay person would be in Prison. Disgusting!
Briggs' lack of professional
Briggs' lack of professional judgement in this case warrants his firing......
Judgement Call
The officers in the field perform a very dangerous job. It is easy for people to sit at there computers and second guess. The officer made a judgement call, he did what he thought was right. No one was hurt, this isnt even news worthy. Leave the man alone!!
Seriously -- a judgement
Seriously -- a judgement call???? The officer pulled over was swerving all over the road, has a history of problems that he personally admitted to, and blew a .19!!!!!!! That is more than double the legal limit. This isn't somebody coming to a rolling stop when nobody is around, this is endangering the lives of EVERY person on the road at the same time as them. I have no idea how anybody can find a way to justify the actions of either person in this case.
I hope that if I'm ever out
I hope that if I'm ever out drinking and driving...and get caught with a .19 that the officer just decides to drive me home :] What was the name of the officer that did that again, can we request him if a person gets caught breaking the law? Just because your a police officer does not mean your above the law!
Yeah, no one was hurt this time. I would hate for my family to be part of the 30% of drunk driving fatalities that occur every year in Michigan.
drunk cop let off
I hope if I get pulled over I will get the same break that joe cop gets cause I've had some issues.
Judgement Call???
I understand that these officers perform a dangerous job everyday because my son-in-law is an officer of the law and he has been placed in a few, but he will tell you himself that THIS officer made a VERY bad judgement call when McCrate blew a .19. I understand that if they could turn back time, I'm sure that they would probably do things different, but the reality is that this happened and will continue to happen and the taxpayers have every right to let them know how they feel. Let me ask you this---If a family member would have been killed in this incident or for that matter any other simular incident, would you still feel the same? Yes, Officer Briggs drove him home instead of letting him drive himself, but that bad judgement just led to another bad judgement by ANOTHER officer. That tells me that not only one, but two of our local police officers are arrogant enough to think that they do not have to follow the same rules as you and I.
