Britton Community Band 2010

Last year and the year before I pulled my flute from its dark hiding place in my closet to play with the Britton Community Band during its annual concert.

Sadly, this year I was just way too busy to join, but I did get a chance to listen to the band as it performed before the middle and high school bands last week. The band is made up primarily of Britton-Macon Area School alumni with a few of us community members (parent, teachers and such) thrown in. Each year that I've been a member, I've had a blast. Meri is great at choosing just the right music for those of us who only find time to pick up our instruments once a year. We gather for rehearsals a few weeks before the show and then take the stage, many of us along with our children.

While I missed performing with the band, it was great listening to them from the audience. They did a great job. Here is a video clip of one of their pieces.
