Britton Deerfield wins again

Britton Deerfield’s varsity football team picked up its second win of the season in as many games while on the road Friday, Sept. 3, defeating Southfield Christian 14-6.Patriot coach D.J. Lutz said that the slow offensive evening was highlighted by many dropped passes but was over shadowed by the play of B-D’s defense. “Numerous big stops and turnovers created kept us in the game and in the lead,” he said.Eli Browning caught a four-yard pass in the second quarter from Andrew Prielipp to give B-D a 7-0 lead by the end of the opening half.Southfield Christian cut the Patriots’ lead to 7-6 after a long run to open the third quarter but failed to tie the contest with a bad Point After Touchdown kick.A majority of the second half featured a defensive battle until Jacob Warner scored on an 18-yard run in the final quarter.Eli Browning secured the win for B-D with an interception in their own end zone with just over a minute remaining in the contest.Prielipp completed 11-of-22 passes for 115-yards and one touchdown.Josh Hoffman recorded three receptions for 40 yards while Austin Miller had three catches 24 yards.Josh Reau finished the night with eight tackles. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. Michael McGuire had six tackles for B-D while Brock Prain had five solo tackles, two for losses. Jordan Osbun added four tackles and had one fumble recovery.The Patriots (2-0) play next at Britton against Morenci (0-2).
