Reeder gives CIS update, announces resignation at school board meeting

By DEB WUETHRICH

Communities in Schools Executive Director Susan Reeder provided an update on the organization at the Tecumseh School Board meeting on Monday night and also publicly announced to the board that she has accepted a position with Hospice of Lenawee.

“I’m moving to another wonderful organization, and it’s exciting for me,” said Reeder. “I also want to acknowledge the administration, principals, and teaching staff for allowing CIS in the buildings and classrooms to support students. I appreciate that.”

She said that she hoped such support would continue with the other CIS staff members.

“We ask that you continue to support CIS because we are your partners,” she said.

Tecumseh Supt. Mike McAran said that in the 11 years Reeder has headed up the organization, CIS has advanced and grown.

“You have some wonderful employees in place, and it’s one of the best things to see high school kids coming into the middle school helping them through the ALLY program,” McAran said. He also mentioned the Pen Pal project where middle school students correspond with community members, and other programs. “You’ve been able to put together a lot of nice things, and we appreciate it,” he said.

“You will be missed,” said Tecumseh Board President Edward Tritt.
