GERALD EDWARD HARRIS
Gerald Edward Harris, 74, went with the Lord from his home on Oct. 28, 2010. Born January 24, 1936, Detroit Mich. Attended Catholic Central High School. In 1958, Gerald went to work at GM and became a Quality Control Manager. Moved to El Paso, Texas in 1976, and eventually settled down in Del Rio, Texas in 1990. Believes in Santa Claus, Christmas trees and God. Does business with a handshake. A man of his word. defends what he thinks is right, but will admit if he’s wrong. Will take time for anybody. Talks too much. If you want to know how he feels, just ask him. Excels in anything he wants to.
Walks like a duck, but has the heart and soul of an eagle. Endears himself to those who know him. Is respected as an expert in his industry. Livelihoods have been enriched by having worked with him and lives are blessed through his friendship.
We may find someone to fill his position, but will never fill your shoes. We may find someone to occupy your space, but will never take your place. He is survived by his wife: Lorina Harris; children: Buddy Heard Jr., Lauree and husband Frank Koog and their children: Melissa and husband Netza Bahena and Elizabeth Koog, one great-grandson: Noah Bahena; Desiree and husband Cole Chapman and their children: Taylore Manriquez, Serina Tellez, Chance Chapman and Matthew Chapman, Kellee and husband Willy Pratt and their children: Tully, Maggee, Pratt, Riley and Kayla Pratt; also, Myrna, the mother of his children: James Harris and wife Debbie and children: Jeff, Christopher and James, Judy and Husband Craig Meier and their children: Lauren, Derek and Luke Meier, Michelle and Scott Ballinger; brothers: Tom and his wife Pat Harris and Mike and his wife Sue Harris; numerous family members and friends also survive. His daughter Elizabeth Jane Harris preceded him in death.
Visitations will be on Friday, 2-5 p.m., Oct. 29, 2010 at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will continue at Sacred Heart Church same day from 6-9 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m., with Deacon Robert Kusenberger.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, 10 a.m., October 30, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Officiating by Father Jim Fischler, CICM. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests donations be made to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Funeral arrangements with G. W.
