Walberg fails to convince that he won’t turn back on seniors

To the Editor,

This is one of the most important elections in our nation’s recent history. We have to choose between returning to the failed ideas that led to our problems today and continuing on a path of restoration. I fully understand how much is yet to be done before we are again the great respected nation we once were. After researching the candidates I have decided to vote for Mark Schauer.

Tim Walberg has failed to show me any evidence that he won’t turn his back on senior citizens again if we give him his old job back. He has stated he believes Social Security should be privatized. I can only imagine where I would be if my retirement funds had been invested on Wall Street two years ago.

Mark Schauer, on the other hand, has supported Social Security 100 percent of the time. He has remained committed to strengthening both Medicare and Social Security so they will be there for us and our loved ones as we age. Mark helped seniors get a $250 check to help with the Medicare part D “donut hole” and voted to cover preventative care like annual check-ups so seniors can go to the doctor before they get sick.

Mark has worked hard for the people of Michigan and this country. I am voting for Mark Schauer.
