Jim Van Doren has been ‘a pillar of the community’

To the Editor,

Jim Van Doren has been a pillar of this community for the past 50 years.  Sometimes he has been at the forefront, but many times he works quietly behind the scenes.  Many people are not aware that he has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for our communities, non profits, churches, fire departments and hospitals from building projects to fire trucks or for capital to just keep folks afloat throughout the county from Addison to Deerfield to Morenci to Blissfield and  all areas in between.

He has been a member of our business community and a business leader for over 40 years.  His many years with a local company, Simplex, as vice president and general manager, allowed many area residents good solid jobs for years and his dedication to the fire service with his revitalization of Sand Lake Fire Department demonstrates his love and commitment to our community.

When he retired instead of going fishing and hunting (which I know he personally loves) he committed his time to help and serve in our county government.  People throughout the county from business to county employees will tell you he has had a positive impact in county government.  One of his many attributes in working for county government was taking the story of county government “on the road” to assure we have the opportunity to understand and see just how our county operates.

Lansing is a mess and we need someone like Jim to represent us in the State House.  He has proven his dedication to this county, but even more importantly he has been a vital part in our success and making this community great.  I would ask you to go to the polls on Tuesday, Aug. 3 and vote for Jim Van Doren for 57th District State Representative so he may continue his work on behalf of the great people of this county.
