Poultry fashion, dress a goat contests

A visit to the171st Lenawee County Fair last week to watch the annual 4-H Poultry Fashion and Dress a Goat contests had me chuckling for hours. Sally, a five-month-old black and white nanny dressed as Tinkerbelle, won the Dress a Goat competition. Sassy Sal, as the Billies like to call her, wore a lovely sparkling green dress and spicy laced necklace with red flower bracelet. She was led in by Kelsey Warner of the Onsted Sweet Clovers and looked pretty much dumbfounded at the attention given her during the contest. Mike Reynolds, the event’s MC, made the goats feel comfortable despite being dolled up with chick chickens cackling and staring at them all the while. A poultry fashion show was the opener for the goat’s competition. Take a peek at the video — it’s hilarious!
