Positive experience with Tecumseh Preschool Program

To the Editor,

I am writing this letter today in support specifically of the Tecumseh Public Schools Preschool Program.

Our son currently attends Mrs. Beaudoin and Mrs. Fox’s afternoon program. This is our son’s second year of attendance.

I want to let you know how much our son has grown from attending the program.

When I attended the preschool information night last year, the teachers presented a slide show, showing that there is a difference with children that attend a preschool program and children that do not. I remember something someone said to me when I presented that information. They said,  “Well if they don’t attend, they will catch up.” I knew right then that I didn’t want my child to have to “catch up.”

Our son is definitely proof that those results are not just numbers. The time that he gets one on one is really special.

The social skills that our son has developed and that have grown are significantly different than many of the children we know and interact with of his age. With learning through play, his sharing skills, and a big one for us personally, how he has learned to express his feelings the right way have improved and grown greatly.

The improvement with his numbers, letter writing, and name writing is also significant. I truly believe that a child needs to learn at home too, and the skills/tools that are offered to us by the teachers are terrific. There is an opportunity to learn with everything, and Mrs. Beaudoin and Mrs. Fox specifically have helped us improve and learn as a family.

Lastly, but certainly not least, the encouragement to participate with helping the community is terrific. As young children, they are learning that sharing is caring, not only with one another in the classroom, but with others that they may not know personally. They are helping to teach our children to be caring, good people. These are things that our very young children will take with them forever, and we are truly grateful.

Next year we are hopeful that our two-year-old will be able to attend with Mrs. Beaudoin and Mrs. Fox. I am hopeful that the program continues to remain as strong of a program as it is today.

On another quick note, Mrs. Beaudoin and Mrs. Fox have always been approachable. They have always offered helpful suggestions, and encouragement.

Thank you for your time.
