Margaret Irene Starkey
Margaret Irene Starkey, 96, of Tecumseh passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Herrick Manor. She was born July 15, 1914, in Tecumseh, the daughter of LaVern and Florence G. (Clark) Dove. She was married to John Drew Starkey on June 16, 1932 in Angola, Ind. and he preceded her in death in September, 1964.Margaret was employed at Fabricare from 1964 to 1983 and also was a volunteer for Herrick Medical Center Auxiliary for 12 years, from 1983 to 1995. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her family and dear friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.Margaret is survived by one son, Gary (Olga) Starkey of Newport, Tenn.; three daughters, Barbara Baugh of Tecumseh, Shirley Putnam of Adrian, and Carol Watson of Tecumseh; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, William Starkey; one brother, Lyndall; and one sister, Alma McKenzie.Visitation was held at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes on Tuesday, March 22. The Funeral Service was held Wednesday, March 23, with Pastor Lloyd Jewett officiating. Interment followed at Holloway Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of donor's choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com.
