Tecumseh defeats Hurons
Tecumseh’s varsity boys lacrosse team toughed it out against a determined Ann Arbor Huron squad on Wednesday, April 27, and picked up a 10-9 Southeastern Conference victory.A slippery Indians Stadium field made scoring drives difficult but Tecumseh was able to take an early lead and fight off a determined Huron squad in a frantic fight to the finish. Tecumseh seniors Zach Brancheau and Steven Osworth led the Tribe with three goals each. Brancheau also added an assist. Senior Colten Moore had two goals while senior Alex Baker had a goal and three assists. Sophomore Anthony Iallacci recorded a goal and two assists. Baker led the Indians in ground balls and was followed closely by Iallacci and Charlie Haessler, who also had a game saving stick check as the game clock ran out. Mitch Ringer, Cody Ross, Jacob Goudy, Max Bisher, Caleb Harrison, Tyler Cochran, Keaton Ruttinger, Jeff Jenkins, Jeff Mcgowen, Matt Scheffler, Zach Lorraine, Ian Shaw, Shane Lewendowski, Evan Fanslau and Peter Rathsack each contributed to a strong defensive showing, according to Tecumseh coach Mitch Felkey. Kyle Braunschneider was the backbone of the Indians’ defensive unit with 14 saves in goal. Coaches Felkey and assistant coach Dave Baker thought the team helped the lacrosse program take a big step forward. It was the first time the varsity team defeated Ann Arbor Hurons varsity team.
