Dundee claims BD tournament championship
After advancing to its own tournament championship game against Dundee on Saturday, May 6, Britton Deerfield’s Patriots lost 8-2 against the Vikings.The Patriots started the day with a big 11-1 victory against Pittsford with Andrew Prielipp earning the pitching win. He gave up one run in six innings on two hits and four walks while striking out six.Landon Handy led BD at bat, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Tyler Jacobs also added a hit, stole a base and scored a run for BD. Josh Hoffman was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Prielipp was 1-for-3 with an RBI while Josh Reau was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Tyler Gilson added a hit and scored a run and RBI.In the championship game, BD’s Brian Snyder was the losing pitcher.Jeremy Hatfield was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI for BD while Jacobs was 1-for-2. Handy was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a double while Hoffman was 1-for-3 with an RBI.On Monday afternoon, the Patriots defeated Morenci 15-0 in just four innings at Deerfield.Zack Bearinger was the winning pitcher. He threw four innings and gave up two hits, no runs or walks with eight strikeouts.Nate Willaert was 1-for-1 with three runs scored and two RBI while Handy was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. BD’s Prielipp was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI: Rowe was 2-for-4 with an RBI; Tyler Gilson, 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.At Britton on Thursday, May 5 the Patriots lost 17-7 against Summerfield in a six-inning game. Hatfield took the loss on the hill.Hoffman led BD at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance with two runs scored an RBI. Also adding hits were Prielipp, Hatfield and Gilson.On Wednesday, May 4, BD defeated Madison 5-4 at Britton.Prielipp picked up the win on relief after one inning of work. He allowed no runs on one hit and one walk while striking out none. Bearinger pitched six innings and gave up four unearned runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.Jacobs recorded the game-winning RBI, going 1-for-3 for BD with two runs scored. Handy was 1-for-3 with a run scored: Prielipp, 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI; Reau, 1-for-3 with an RBI double; Bearinger, 1-for-3 and Gilson, 1-for-2 with a run scored. Gilson scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.On Friday, April 29, BD lost 8-7 at Erie Mason. Bearinger was handed the pitching loss.Leading hitters for the Patriots were Prielipp (2-for-3, two runs scored): Hatfield (2-for-3, run scored two RBI), Gilson (1-for-3, run scored, RBI); Jacobs (2-for-4, run scored, RBI) and Hoffman (4-for-4, RBI).Against Grass Lake on Saturday, April 30, BD was mercied 11-1. Jacobs went 2-for-3 to lead BD at the plate.
