Saying Happy Thanksgiving a few days early
Soon we’ll all be gathering with our respective families and feasting on Turkey and all of the fixings. I don’t know if I’ll get any turkey this year. My Dear Partner J and I are on our own for this holiday, which is fine. J, who does most of the cooking in my house because I frighten people when I cook, is planning to go “no turkey” this time. I’m not sure what his food plans are, actually. He was planning some kind of Asian fare. There’s some talk that we’ll have company. If not, that’s okay, too. Mostly, I’m thankful for the quiet weekend I’m going to have. I’m thankful for many other things, too. Really, that’s kind of what I was trying to get to in a round-about way. There are many things I’m thankful for. I’m thankful for my kids and J and for our modest home and our garden we have in summer. I’m thankful for the time I got to spend with my parents this summer, too, and I’m thankful my mom left my freezer full of some of her specialty foods that I like. I know she really left them for my son, the apple of her eye, but we all get to have the goodies. I’m always thankful for my health and now for learning how to stay healthy through diet and exercise. I’m thankful for many, many things, including the many people who actually take a few minutes to read the things I write here and in the Herald. Thank you and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
