Severe weather alert system can send notification to cell phones

To the Editor,The emergency management agencies recently have run ads encouraging citizens to sign up for the subject system. However, the ads fail to mention how alert notifications will be sent to residents who sign up for the “Code Red System.”“Code Red” is unique as it sends weather alerts to  home and/or cell telephones. In my opinion this could be an effective way to get the word out and it is the top reason for signing up for “Code Red.” I could have contacted Tecumseh City Hall, Tecumseh Township or the County Emergency Management Department. I did not do so because (1) since they failed to mention one of the most significant aspects (notification by telephone) of the Code Red Weather Notification System, I would propably get the run around and (2)publication of this letter will get the information to several people in the community.  Jim WoodTecumseh
