Russell L. Hollenback Jr.

Russell L. Hollenback Jr., 69, of Tecumseh, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011. He was born Aug. 26, 1941, in Scranton, Pa., the son of Russell L. and Romayne Mae (Hoffman) Hollenback Sr. On June 15, 1968, he married Nancy Shultz in Ann Arbor, Mich. and she survives.Russell worked in Quality Assurance at Ford Motor Company in Saline for 36 years before retiring in 2004. He moved to Tecumseh in 1976 coming from Ann Arbor. Russell was involved as a volunteer for the Department of Aging and Meals on Wheels, and drove people to dialysis treatments when needed. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and “snack director” of the AWANA program. Russell was an avid golfer, fisherman, and history buff and enjoyed spending time refinishing furniture. He was known to be a “Duct Tape Aficionado,” but mostly for his sense of humor and zest for life, laughter and jokes. He will be remembered as a loyal and trusting friend and to his family he was the ultimate husband, father, and grandfather.In addition to his wife, Russell is survived by his mother, Romayne Hollenback of Tecumseh; sons, Jed (Angela) Hollenback of Dearborn, Mich. and Kurt (Alexis) Hollenback of Arvada, Colo.; his daughters, Jennifer Knight of Tecumseh and Sarah (Chad) Bilkey of Mattawan, Mich.; his brother, Drs. David (Sharon) Hollenback of Syracuse, N.Y.; his sister, Suzanne (Clifford) Hill of Warsaw, Ind.; his grandchildren, Natalie, Nikole, Jaedon, Iris, Taylor, Ella and Olivia; his great-grandson, Jordan; his extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved Basset Hounds, Doc and Magnum. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his father.Visitation for Russell will be from 12 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, at First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, at the church with the Rev. Richard Mortimer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh.
