Marietta Rafferty
Marietta Rafferty, 93, of Woodruff, S.C., formerly of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away July 14, 2011, at home under the loving care of her son, David G Rafferty Sr., and her daughter-in-law, Sara (Sally Reinhart) and Interim Hospice of Spartanburg S.C. Marietta was born Aug. 30,1917, in Clinton, Mich., the daughter of Elmer and Lillian (Traub) Johnson. In October of 1940, she married Grant William Rafferty, the love of her life. He was killed in a tragic accident in 1942 and she never remarried. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Tamara Sue Rafferty Allison; siblings, Eugene Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Margaret Goshhorn and Betty Schwab; and a very special friend, Ruth Green.Besides her son and daughter-in-law, she is survived by a grandson, David (Marc) Rafferty of Stockbridge, Mich.; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.According to Marietta’s wishes cremation has taken place and burial will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Clinton, Mich.
