Paul Winner, Sr.

Paul Winner, Sr., 67, of Britton, passed away Sept. 16, 2011. Paul was born Oct. 16, 1943, in Lansing, Mich., the son of Ross and Pearl (Zimmerman) Winner. On July 1, 1963, he married Betty Hoffman in Adrian and she survives. Paul was a graduate of Adrian High School. From 1960 to 1964 he served his country in the United States Navy. He retired after working 33 years at the Ford Plant, Saline. Paul, a good Christian man who loved his Lord, was an active member of the Blissfield Baptist Church. He enjoyed his family, especially his children and grandchildren.In addition to his wife, Betty, Paul is survived by his children, Paul, Jr. (Sarah ) Winner of Ypsilanti, Douglas Winner of Sylvania, Ohio, Wendell (Diane) Winner of Saline and Rebecca Winner of Tecumseh; sister, Joanne Niner of Adrian; and grandchildren, Cassandra, Chad, Marisa, Brenden, Joel, Lindsey and Travis. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph, Nelson and Douglas; and a sister, Diane.Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Brother John Scherdt officiating. Burial followed in Ridgeway Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice, Ann Arbor or the CurePSP: 30 E.
