Phyllis M. Reasoner
Phyllis M. Reasoner, 85, of Adrian, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at Bixby Medical Center. She was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Adrian, the daughter of Elliott and Gertrude (Schwass) Bayles, Sr. In 1943, she graduated from Adrian High School.
Phyllis worked for Adrian Public Schools as a teacher's aide for many years. A dedicated Foster Grandparent at Maurice Spear Campus for over 15 years, she was recognized as 1999-2000 Foster Grandparent of the Year for Lenawee County. Phyllis was a lifetime member of the Adrian Alumni Association, and in 2008 she was the first recipient of their Outstanding Volunteer award. She enjoyed being the historian and event coordinator for the AHS Class of '43. For many years, Phyllis served as a Superintendent of Open Class Exhibits at the Lenawee County Fair. She was an avid genealogist.
Phyllis is survived by three sons, George (Mary Beth) Reasoner, Jr., of Tecumseh; Douglas Reasoner of Texas; and Paul (Tammie) Reasoner of Adrian; a treasured granddaughter, Leah Marjorie Reasoner; brother, Elliott Bayles, Jr., of Adrian; sister, Kathleen Aiston of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews, including Sue (George) North, Jr., of Adrian, who was like a daughter to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gertrude Reasoner, in infancy.
The funeral service for Phyllis was held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Wagley Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Burial followed at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park.
