Fundraising for library 50 years ago has had everlasting payoff

To the Editor,Re: page 10 photo “Spacious Stacks Hold Volumes.” Aren’t the two 16 year olds pictured Bonnie Kempf in the foreground, and her close friend and neighbor Allison Derby in the background? Sure looks like them.It is nice to see these 50 year old images and stories weekly, looking back to great times in Tecumseh.I remember my father Vern Manwaring and others working tirelessly for the Tecumseh Community Fund Foundation in their collection of donations and pledges for the building of the new library. At the time I did not understand the effort it took. But the payoff turned out to be everlasting for the whole community. It is so nice to see the citizens and business people of a small town even today stepping up, getting involved and volunteering to help make the area flourish, and to make people proud to call Tecumseh “Home.”Gene ManwaringFarmington Hills
