Pool was one reason family moved to Tecumseh area

To the Editor, On February 28th our community will vote on whether or not we will support our community pool in the years to come. I believe it is important that we support this facility. It provides the community, not just the schools, opportunities that would not be available otherwise. One reason I moved to Tecumseh in the first place was because it had a community swimming pool. Both of my children learned to swim there and continue to participate in the Tigershark swim club. My children are also in scouting and have had the privilege of using the facility to achieve different badge or rank advancement requirements. My mother-in-law uses the pool nearly every day to alleviate her pain due to arthritis. I have also used the facility from time to time. In a state surrounded by so much fresh lake water it is so important to have a controlled environment in which to teach our children how to swim. I understand that the economy is tough right now, but this is a community facility and should be supported by its community. This vote on February 28th is NOT asking for more money for the school board to manage. The money will be specifically earmarked for the pool use and an outside board will oversee the spending. This support of the community pool will benefit of the whole community. Please help save this precious facility. Kristie SchaedlerRaisin Township
