Thanks supporters of ‘Community Day’ at pool

To the Editor,Dear Tecumseh Community, thank you so much for the overwhelming support at our Free Open Swim Community Day at the pool this past Saturday. The anticipation leading up to this event led some of us to wonder how successful it might be, and we were thrilled with the turnout! We had families that walked in with smiles on their faces, suits in hand and were ready to jump into the water at 3 p.m. sharp! For some families, it was their first time at the facility! Our six volunteer lifeguards performed like professionals and we are so very proud of them. They started younger swimmers off with deep water swim tests and then granted those children access to the diving board which had a line all day! Tecumseh Alumni Scott Yarbrough drove in from Oakland University where he is a senior and swims for the college. He spent the day in his former stomping grounds and kindly gave all the spectators a demonstration of his abilities. Scott is going for his Olympic time trials this March and we wish him the best of luck! Tecumseh High School senior, Jalen Jennings, demonstrated his diving abilities to the crowd and made something so difficult look so easy and effortless. Thank you to these two former Tigershark swimmers for taking the time to honor your beginnings, we're very proud of all your successes!Questions were asked about the upcoming vote on 2/28 and Yes vote petitions were signed. Busch's donated two dozen balloons to help with the festive spirit of the day and plenty of pictures were taken of the fun. Visit our Friends of Tecumseh Community Pool Facebook page to view those pictures and to get information regarding the upcoming vote. Thank you again Tecumseh families for attending this event and making it such a success. FEELING the community support makes the efforts to save the pool so rewarding. Sincerely, Friends of Tecumseh Community Pool
