B-D thinclads led by Wielfaert

Aaron Wielfaert had a great day on the track last Thursday, April 24, as Britton-Deerfield hosted Manchester's Flying Dutchmen but despite his efforts the Blue and Red lost by a score of 83-44.

Wielfaert was a triple winner during the day. He placed first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.71, turned in a personal best in the long jump with a distance of 19' 7” and cleared 6' 5” in the high jump with another personal best effort. His high jump would have set the new school record but it wasn’t officially measured.
Braxton Collins was B-D's only other first place runner with a time of 12:26.3 in the 3200-meter run.

Second places were recorded by B-D's R.J. Pickell in the discus, Matt Rau in the long jump and 800-meter run, Sam Branscum in the high hurdles, Collins in the 1600-meter run, Doug Wylie in the 300-meter hurdles and Landon Forche in the 3200-meter run.
Pickell placed third in the shot put, Jared Pirkle placed third in the high jump and Raymond Root placed third in the high hurdles.

With the loss B-D fell to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the Tri-county Conference.
At Whitmore Lake on Saturday in the Trojan Relays B-D finished fourth out of seven teams with 73 points.

Manchester won the event with 110 points while Whitmore Lake was second with 108. Summerfield finished third with 88 points and was followed by Allen Academy (22), Bishop Foley (17) and Roeper (16).

B-D's boys won the following relays for the second year in a row: the discus relay, the high jump relay and the middle distance relay.

B-D's girls finished fifth with 45 points. Whitmore Lake won the event with 112 points while Manchester placed second with 110. Roeper was third with 100.

On Tuesday, April 15, Summerfield defeated B-D's boy's team by a score of 92-60. B-D once again had eight first places. BD was led by double winners Rau, who won both the 1600-meter and 800-meter runs, and Wielfaert, who took the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump (6' 4”). Pickell won the shot put while Braxton Collins won the 3200-meter run. B-D's 3200-meter relay team of Collins, Pirkle, Forche, and Rau placed first as well as its 1600-meter relay team of Pirkle, Brandon Pirolli, Rau, and Wielfaert.
