MERELIN A. YOUNG

Merelin A. Young, age 88, of Tecumseh, passed away May 8, 2012.
He was born October 29, 1925 in Tecumseh, Mich., the son of John and Ethyl (Allison) Young. On October 16, 1947, he married Melva B. Sieler in Ottawa Lake, Mich., and she preceded him in death on July 21, 2007.

Merelin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and a survivor of the December 24, 1944 U.S.S. Leopoldville disaster. He was retired from the Tecumseh Products Company with over 40 years of service.

Merelin was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tecumseh.

He also farmed for a number of years.

Merelin is survived by his children Merelin L. (Pat) Young and Linda E. (Ford) Hyder both of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Tim (Kim) Young, Scott Steuwe, Keith Young, Julie Young and Tammie (Jed) Schaefer; great grandchildren Tyler, Walker, Adison, and Nathan; step grandchild, James; and sister, Katherine Cooper of Florida; 3 brothers, John (Shirley) of Swanton, OH, James (Connie) of Adrian, and Herb (JoAnn) of Adrian.

In addition to his wife Melva, he was preceded in death by, grandson, Chad Steuwe and sisters, Loretta Frederick and Wanda Carter-Miller.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tecumseh, with Pastor Philip Krieger officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, with military honors.

Visitation will be 2 - 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
