Indians pick up several firsts at Redskin Relays
Tecumseh’s varsity girls and boys track teams recorded several first place finishes at Clinton’s annual Redskin Relays on Saturday, April 14.
Picking up victories for the girls team was the middle distance relay team (Katie Kasper, Anna Fabbri, Lauren Litogot, Rachel Waite) and the 3200-meter relay team (Katie Kasper, Kendra Randolph, Chelsea Drouillard and Rachel Waite, 10:59.52).
The girls’ 1600-meter relay team (Katie Kasper, Karlie Wright, Lauren Litogot, Rachel Waite 4:38.07) placed second while the Indians’ Clinton relay team (Lauren Litogot, Paige Cadmus, Chloe Stitt, and Karlie Wright) placed third.
Tecumseh’s girls 800-meter relay team (Paige Cadmus, Korrin Burstall, Alexi Schnurr, and Karlie Wright, 2:02.2) and 400-meter relay team (Lauren Litogot, Paige Cadmus, Chloe Stitt, Korrin Burstall, 57.25) both placed fourth.
Tecumseh’s boys recorded four first place finishes.
The Indians’ shuttle hurdle relay team (Nate Kossey, Dakota Gonzales, Max Miller, Gabe Lopez) placed first with a time of 1:07.
Drew Grimm won the long jump with a personal best of 19'8" while Tecumseh’s Clinton relay team (Luke Marston, Dylan Coleman, Drew Grimm, Tyler Bryan) placed first with a time of 1:40.
The Indians’ middle distance relay team (Drake VanDenBerg, Kyle Bryan, Gabe Lopez, Sage Rebottaro) finished first in 6:24.71.
Tecumseh placed second in the 1,600-meter relay (Lopez, Gonzales, Bryan, Rebottaro, 3:45.83).
Recording third place for Tecumseh was Tecumseh’s 6,400-meter relay team (Vandenberg, Miller, Ben Shaw, Alex Janeczek, 20:34): the 800-meter relay team (Luke Marston, Coleman, Grimm, Bryan, 1:37.5); the 4x800-meter relay team (Rebottaro, Miller, Janeczek, Vandenberg, 9:21) and the 400-meter relay team (Marston, Coleman, Grimm, Bryan, 46.5).
At home against Lincoln on Thursday, April 12, the Indians girls lost 83-53 while the boys fell 75.5-61.5.
Tecumseh’s Katie Kasper placed first in the 800-meter run (2:43.24) and second in the 1,600-meter run (6:11.35). The Indians 3,200-meter relay (10.47.38) also placed first as did the 1,600-meter relay team (4:42.89).
Lauren Litogot placed first in the pole vault (6’6”) event.
First place finishers for Tecumseh’s boys included the 3,200-meter relay team (Rebottaro, Miller, Janeczek, Vandenberg, 9:40).
Winning individual events were Grimm, in the 100-meter dash (11.26), Rebottaro, in the 400-meter dash (56.02) and Jared Kimmitt in the Pole Vault (11’6”).
Placing second for the Indians were Rebottaro (high jump, 5’2”, 800, 2:19.36): Grimm (long jump, 18’8 1/2”); Alex Spiteri (discus, 103”); Ben Shaw (2-mile, 11:51); Bryan, 100-dash, 11.3, 200-dash, 23.61); Gonzales, 300-hurdles, 44.04); Drake Vandenberg, 1,600, 5:15); Nick Schnur, pole vault, 10’0”); and Nathan Kossey (110-hurdles, 16.35).
Placing third for Tecumseh were Tyler Hopkins (pole vault, 9'0): Gonzales (high jump, 5’2, 100-hurdles, 17.18); Nate Hawkins (shot put (39”); Bryan, 400-dash, 58.43); Vandenberg, 800, 2:19; and Will Collings (3,200, 12:58).
