Ragbirds Rock Adams Park
For those of you who missed the Ragbirds play for Tecumseh's Music in the Park series, you missed a great show! Not only was the music excellent, but the show was free. Friend and Tecumseh Herald fearless leader Jim and I discussed the whole issue about how much entertainment there is around Tecumseh and southeast Michigan that one doesn't have spend a whole week's salary to enjoy.
That certainly was the case with Thursday's concert. I've heard the band before. In fact, the lead singer, Erin, played fiddle at my wedding, so I knew I was in for some great music. Adams Park is a great venue for an outdoor concert, too. The fountain area is the perfect backdrop for a stage area and the old trees provide lots of shade for concert-goers.
The band played everything from Irish-inspired songs to African beats, music that was easy to find yourself moving to. There were a few people who jumped up and danced and looked like they were having loads of fun. None of it costing anything. I even walked away with a free City of Tecumseh pedometer that I'm hoping to make use of. We'll see.
I was also extremely excited to hear one my Ragbird favorites, "The Ypsilanti Song." That, of course, is because I live in Ypsilanti, but as always my heart is in Tecumseh.
The next show will be Thursday, Aug. 21, featuring Laith Al-Saadi.
