William Richard Keene, 69, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, at his home.  He was born April 26, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Robert and Mae (Kramer) Keene. On September 26, 1958 he married Suzanne Freyer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and she survives. William worked as an electrician for the Dura Corporation until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed model trains and working with wood.

In addition to his wife, Suzanne of 50 years, William is survived by five sons, William S. Keene of Clayton, Richard (Lisa) Keene  of Adrian, Victor (Debora) Keene of Clayton, Ronald (Julie) Keene of Hudson, and Justin (Crystal) Keene of Adrian; three daughters, Deborah Keene of Clayton, Christine (Mark) Shallcross of Versailles, KY, and Pamela (Todd) Elarton of Adrian; one brother, James “Buddy” (Alvera) Keene of McKees Rock, PA; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Clara Keene of PA and 20 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Bob Matthews; and two brothers, Robert and Donald.

Funeral services took place on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Anderson Funeral Home with Father Kenneth Keene and Paul Burcroff officiating. Cremation will follow the services.  Burial of cremains will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at Anderson Funeral Home.
