To the Editor,
Knowing what we now know about the dissolute debauchery of John Edwards, the mega-phony who lectured us about family values all the time he was (with) a paid for trollop and endlessly pontificating on how much he cared for his cancer stricken wife, I’m heartbroken that he didn’t push the Lord Messiah Most Merciful and the Wife of the liar in Chief over the edge and himself achieve the position of Democrat candidate for President.
If the revelations of an Edward’s lovechild laced background had surfaced during the run-up to the election it would have flushed him down the porcelain convenience and hopefully taken the despicable Harry Reid and the incredibly ineffective and equally offensive Pelosi with him.
That way we wouldn’t be sitting here for the next five weeks wondering if gasoline is going to reach ten bucks a gallon while Pelosi tries to peddle a book no one wants to read, Reid fiddles while the American Economy burns and the Lord Most Merciful goes on a tour while collecting endless campaign donations from illegal foreign sources.
The really sad part of all this is that half the country is poised to vote for bottom feeders like this.
Doug Myers
Tecumseh

Doug Myers
OK Mr. Doug Myers - We realize that not all of the American public has the great common sense as you have shown in that matter towrads Democrats realizing that everyone is worthy of forgivness.
Now then if you want to alk about infidelity - let's do talk about the Republicans - Rudi as Mayor of New York City defiled his office while taking a whore to the Mayor's Mansion while still married.
McCain is no better. Do you recall that that he was unfaithful to his first wife while cheating with his 2nd and current wife Cindy? Then he blamed it on post tramatic stress disorder from being locked up in the Hanoi Hilton? Could he possibly have another bout of the PTSD while being President?
John Edwards - yes he admits that he made a mistake - something in the last eight horrible and dreadful years that I have never heard once uttered by thie current administration. Edwards has also been willing to submit to a paternity test, which the harlot has said not to as he is not the father.
As far as gasoline goes - why not blames those that truely responsible - 1) the American oil companies who are continuaoously posting record profits and 2) those people who decided to 'invest' in our economy as our current President asked by buying gas-guzzeling SUVs. And who is it that set the enerergy policy in secret - those executives of the oil industry and the bottom feeder himself - Dick Cheney.
With Sincere Respect and looking forward to change,
Bruce A. Greene
Bruce A. Greene
Give me a break Mr Greene. You are going to suggest John McCain might have a PTSD breakdown in the office? How dare you pretend to know what goes on in the head of a man who endured a Viet Nam POW camp ... and survived ... where a lesser man would have turned traitor the likes of John Kerry or Jane Fonda.
How short is your memory anyways? What about the last Democrap President? Can you say Bill Clinton? Can you say "I did not have sexual relations with that woman?" That slime bag never asked for forgiveness. Your current playboy idol, John Edwards only admitted he made a mistake when he was caught slinking out of a hotel room at 2am. Had he not been caught it would still be his dirty little secret and he might have been named as a running mate to your rock star Obama.
The oil companies are not the ones driving up the prices, it is these 3rd world oil-rich countries who support terrorists with their oil profits that is controlling the prices. The same countries who Barack Hussein Obama has already gone courting under the mistaken assumption he will be the next President.
You seem to forget this is America, and if I want to buy an SUV it is my right to do just that. No bleeding heart liberal, who believes global warming is reality, is going to tell me what I can and cannot drive.
Take your ridiculously childish oil conspiracy theories to some liberal island commune to live and let us Americans live our own lives in peace. The only change Barack Hussein Obama has actually detailed is the change to your tax bill which he will no doubt double in a heartbeat. The only change you will see is the small change left in your pocket after 'his' government gets its money from you.

Will all due respect Mr. Kevinb., I will not relent. I will not only suggest but state that Senator McCain, who I respect and have great esteem for, who has honoroably served our great country and was a POW, does have PTSD. Department of Defense psychiatrists have evaluated McCain for PTSD several times. PTSD can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which physical harm occurred or was threatened. U.S. government studies have concluded that former POWs "may remain embroiled in a harsh psychological battle with themselves for decades after returning home" (US Veteran Dispatch, 23 DEC 2007)
Your old red party lines show true when you state “where a lesser man would have turned traitor the likes of John Kerry. . .” you do the same thing that you accuse me. This statement was totally unfounded. Mr. Kerry, just as Mr. McCain has served our country with great honor. Shame fall on you for believing the unsubstantiated rhetoric of the “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth”.
My memory serves me well thank you. I do remember what President Clinton did, both good and bad. But I thought that morals were to be taught at home not by politicians and statesmen.
How can you say that “oil companies are not the one who are driving up prices.”? They constantly show record profits. Do you read the Wall Street Journal which consistently shows these headlines? “Exxon Mobil Corp.'s $10.89 billion first-quarter profit report Thursday ranks as one of the biggest hauls in U.S. corporate history.” (WSJ, 2 MAY 2008) Or the unbiased Reuters news service. “Exxon Mobil broke its own record for the highest-ever quarterly profit for a U.S. company on Thursday, Exxon's second-quarter net income rose 14 percent to $11.68 billion (Reuters UK, 1 AUG 2008).
The President helps them as well, being an oil man. On Aug. 8, 2008, Mr. Bush signed a sweeping energy bill that contained $2.6 billion in new tax breaks for oil and gas drillers and a modest expansion of the 10-year-old ''royalty relief'' program. (zfacts.com/p/348.html). Tell me why they need tax breaks with record profits?
It is not the third world that is to be blamed for running up the price of crude oil, it is the consumeristic American public that wants everything made as cheap as possible. Washington has now set the policy of “borrowing money from China to pay for oil from the Middle East.” (Politico.com, Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.)) Oil for the plastics, gasoline, and probably everything that you buy at Big Box.
So honestly now, please, conspiracy theories, those are a something from your generation not mine.
I will never deny a person of any of their Constitutional Rights as you state. You can go ahead and do what it is that you like to do, including driving a gas –guzzler. When did this become a Constitutional right though? However, you are wrong sir, that this has no environmental impact. Whether it is the actual driving of the vehicle which produces high carbon emissions or the production of gasoline. British Petroleum (BP) wants to increase their dumping of millions of gallons of ammonia and of tons of mercury, lead, and benzene with other industrial wastes into our beautiful Lake Michigan (Chicago Tribune, 15 JUL 2008). I defy you to drink water from it or eat fish from there and not be poisoned from it. I do believe that in Genesis, God ordered Cain “to keep and till the land” not kill and destroy.
As for taxes, Senator Obama favors allowing the Bush 2001 and 2003 tax cuts to expire as scheduled for Americans earning more than $250,000 a year. He would raise taxes on capital gains and dividends, but has also promised tax breaks for low and middle-income Americans (Washington Post, 10 JUN 2008). So your statement on him wanting to “double it “ is unfounded. Perhaps as the upper one percent of the American public which holds thirty percent of the net worth in the United States started to pay their way properly instead of hoarding it, we would all be in a better place economically. John McCain feels that $5 Million is rich. I am wiling to venture that his houses (old man can’t remember how many he owns) are worth about that.
The American public deserves someone better than John McCain. He has voted with the Bush Administration 95% of the time. He has flip-flopped on issues of torture (water-boarding), raising taxes, immigration, and campaign finance laws (thecarpetbaggerreport.com). George Washington – one of our founding fathers – abhorred torture, something Bush, with McCain has embraced. Our rights have been eroded from the Writ of Habeas Corpus to illegal public surveillance of communications. With McCain, it will be a continuation of the Bush Administration, four more years of the same. We have lost our standing in the world. As the United States continues to decline economically due to failed economic policies, are you and your neighbors really doing better than you were four years ago?
Americans like you and I are correct in being angry. But it should be directed at those who do deserve this anger – Bush, Cheney, and McCain – not those, like myself who see the need for change who are neither red nor blue but just good Americans.
With all due respect,
Bruce Greene
In closing to Mr Greene
Mr Greene, Although I disagree with you to my very core, your response was well written and compiled. Given time I am sure I could counter most every point with the facts that I know and believe in. I will spare you the challenge and would never expect you to relent any more than you could believe of possibly change my mind enough to give Obama a second look.
The major point to my original response to you was anger at your reaction to Mr. Myers post regarding the philandering of John Edwards. I felt it necessary to remind you of Mr Clinton who did it while in office while you suspect it 'might' happen again to Mr. McCain because of his PTSD, but have no proof. Let me assure you he has cleared any and all of the testing by the DoD you refer to. I am not uneducated in the PTSD disorder, but I cannot and will not provide further detail.
I am Conservative, not old-party, and I fear deeply for this country's future under the possible leadership of Obama. This war and the economic effects are unfortunate, but you cannot deny under whose watch the training and subsequent attack on this country was allowed to be carried out. Clinton failed this country in multiple ways and I will fight to the end to keep this from happening again.
Thank you for providing a valid discussion and not just blantantly attacking me for disagreeing with you. More than likely, however, our votes in November will be cancelling each others out.
Oh, and one more thing. Yes, I am far better off than I was 4 years ago.
Respects.
Mr. Myers
Sir, you place blaim everywhere but where it should be placed. Republicans have had countless affairs including as Mr. Greene pointed out your canidate had an affair. So whos the real 'bottom feeder' a man who has a message of hope or a man who looks down at the very type of person he is.
You can't tell people how to think so please stop.
Response to letter to Editor
We have a presidential election coming up in just a few months, and while it may be tempting to fall into petty name-calling and oneupmanship, I wish that we could instead actually act like adults and responsible citizens and have a real discussion about the issues. What are the biggest problems that we are facing today? What kind of country and world are we going to leave for our children? Will we be engaged and willing to look for and work for real solutions, instead of argumentative and close-minded? Personally, I’m concerned about the state of health care in this country and how it has been turned into a huge industry where hospital CEO’s rake in millions while normal people can barely afford to get some basic tests run and are bankrupted by cancer and other serious diseases. I’m worried about the energy crisis, about the environment, and I’m sorry but “drill here, drill now” is not going to help our children or provide any sort of long-term solution. These are just a few of the huge, looming issues we face. You may disagree with me and think health care should be privatized even more, that off-shore drilling is the panacea to all our economic ills, that global warming is all a big myth. I’d be more than happy to know your reasons and the proof or logic behind them. I’m tired of the name calling of politicians, though, and the false Democrat vs. Republican flame-throwing that distracts us all from what really matters. And I don’t even want to sign my name to this letter because I don’t want to be subjected to the insults of any unbalanced person with anger issues.
Anonymous, I agree. I do
Anonymous, I agree. I do not live in Tecumseh, although I did a few years ago, and it seems people everywhere have WAY too much time on their hands (Mr. Myer, this would be YOU). If you are smart, you are following the debates etc. and ignoring the mud slinging and petty ads. Make up your own minds people and THINK about it!
Not in Michigan
Unfortunately Mr. or Ms. Not in Michigan is that, to outsiders like yourself, what appears to be 'too much time on our hands' is quite possibly a result of the job losses which can be directly attributed to our current Democratic leadership in this state.
Costs of crude oil aside, it is a well known fact that Michigan is in a one-state depression which cannot be blamed on the White House since the rest of the country is doing okay. If you would take the time to read the statistics, the rest of the country IS doing okay ... not great, could be better, but in a heck of a lot better condition than this state.
Just because we don't THINK LIKE YOU does not mean we don't THINK. That is the problem with your party ... you want a bunch of bobble-heads to blindly follow and say yes to all your pie-in-the-sky, tax and spend ideas.
It would be nice if we could have contructive discussions about the issues as Anonymous suggests. The problem begins with people like yourself and Mr. Greene who attack the individual(s) because they state their opinions about the candidates that differ from your own opinions. Accusing Mr. Myer of not being smart or having too much time on his hands (which you have absolutely no way of knowing) is a blatant attack of the person. Accusing me of not THINKING is another. I don't see where you offered up any ideas or valid input of your own, just a personal dig. You need to spend your time reading the papers of the town you left for and post there ... you contribute nothing here.
patriotism comments smarmy? No Way!
One of your writers had a paragraph in her column about the flag and her feelings about that Grand ol' Flag. There is nothing Smarmy about showing your love for the Stars and Stripes Ma'am, You go right on ahead! Hoo-Rah for the Red,White, and Blue! If that is what you feel, You show it and don't let folks comments about patriotism being smarmy affect you. Them comments are a half penny a dozen. It's comments like those that come from the left and far left wing and the other non-believers that think being pat-riotic is so yesterday. Many an old trooper that served their time, all the way back to when this Great country of ours flipped the Brits the bird and told them we were going our own way would disagree with those that think being patriotic is smarmy. So keep on with your column and Wave your Flag and tell folks your feelings about her! And God Bless America! A Proud American and Air Force Veteran....
