A fire that destroyed the church at the Holy Ascension Romanian Orthodox Monastery on August 12, 2016 caused a total loss of the monastery’s church building, but the monastery, located on a 39-acre property at 15143 Sheridan Rd.

According to Tecumseh Police Department Dispatcher Monica Andrews, shortly before 9 a.m. on Thursday March 30, a man walking in the area of South Ottawa Street and Cummins Street notified the department of flames and smoke coming from a vacant building at 317 S. Ottawa St.

On the evening of January 17, Shawn and Sue Gerrity and their family lost their Raisin Township home to a fire, and have been living in an Adrian hotel while they wait for the insurance process to be completed.
