When stating that charter and private schools produce better results than public schools, one must also take into consideration that public schools must educate every student while private schools may pick and choose the students they teach.

On May 3rd Tecumseh’s school bond proposal was voted down. Not sure what part our school board didn’t understand – the people have voted no at this time. Yet, the school board has decided to rush through another bond proposal to raise our taxes.

In the May 12 opinion section, a letter was printed from a reader who made some statements that I would like to refute. The author of the letter pointed out some undeniable facts, including that taxes are generally unpopular.

The recent Tecumseh Public Schools Bond proposal failure did nothing to get the message across to the school board that the citizens are already taxed to the max… An unfortunate expression, but a truth nonetheless.

Joe Martin’s rant about “tax cuts” in last week’s Herald deserves a rebuttal. Apparently, he was upset about the TPS bond proposal failure? Or was he upset that our state legislature had the audacity to go suggest giving back some of the $7 BILLION state budget surplus that exists?
