Referees were kept busy throwing yellow flags in Tecumseh’s varsity football season opener at Adrian College on Thursday, Aug. 25, but the Indians overcame their opening-game jitters and defeated Harper Woods Chandler Park 15-14.

Wegner Field looked no worse for wear after Clinton’s varsity football running backs tore up the turf and destroyed visiting Manchester on Friday, Aug. 26, with a solid ground game. The Redskins easily defeated the Flying Dutchmen 48-12.

Lenawee Christian School hosted Britton Deerfield’s (BD) varsity football team on Friday, Aug. 26 and defeated the Patriots 35-34 in their first game of the season.

John Johnson, communications director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), said on Friday, Aug. 19, that several member schools violated its varsity football rules and had to cancel pre-season scrimmages against opposing teams. Tecumseh was one of those schools.

Clinton’s Annual Taco Dinner Fundraiser will be held before its first varsity football game at home on Friday, Aug. 26 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Clinton High School Cafeteria.
Cost is $5 per individual or $20 per family of five.
