Barbara Joan Kane

Barbara Joan Kane, age 95 of Tecumseh, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Cambrian Assisted Living in Tecumseh. She was born September 15, 1928 in Elmhurst, Ill., the daughter of the late Floyd B. and Edith S. (Steren) Center.

Barbara retired from First Federal Bank in Adrian. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh since 1966 and a member of their Altar Society for 55 years. Barbara enjoyed traveling across the country and spending time knitting. During the holidays she made chocolate confections. She loved watching sports especially when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were playing. Family events and time at the lake were times that were very special to her.

Barbara is survived by her children, Michael (Victoria) Kane, James (Sue) Kane, Patricia (Craig) Van Camp, Suzanne (David) Laurinec and Marybeth (James) Anderson; 16 grandchildren, Kristen (Myka) McKee, Jennifer (Gary) Nowak, Matthew (Melissa) Kane, Stacey (Jason) Foss, Kimberly Van Camp, Derrick (Tracy Coffey) Kane, Shaun (Andrew) Feldkamp, Katy Hebert, Daniel (Richelle) Hebert, Tara Mc Lean, Katie (Austin) Bullock, Lindsay (Jun) Caballo, Alicia (Sean) Kortus, Nathan (Jessica) Laurinec, Chelsea (Nick) Zuk and Casey (Ryan) Walker; and 33 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, James Kane, she was preceded in death by a brother, Neil Center, and a sister, Elizabeth Center.

Memorial visitation for Barbara was held on Tuesday, May 21, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A Memorial Mass was held on Wednesday, May 22, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh with Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant. Inurnment was in Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee and the Tecumseh Service Club. The family would like to thank Cambrian Assisted Living and Hospice of Lenawee for their exceptional care.
