Bessie “Dell” O’Dell Roberts

Bessie “Dell” O’Dell Roberts, age 98, of Tecumseh, Mich. passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021 at Cambrian Assisted Living surrounded by her family. She was born on October 11, 1922 in Bay Minette, Ala., the daughter of Peter and Eva Mae (Allen) Morris. On January 10, 1946 she married Richard W. Roberts in Galveston, Texas and they shared 60 years together before his death in 2006.

Dell was a member of Lighthouse Fellowship Chapel in Bonita Springs, Fla. where she was very active. Dell worked as a bookkeeper for Sinclair Manufacturing for several years and in her spare time she loved golfing and playing bridge. Dell and Dick were previous owners of Ohio Clearwater Pools in Westerville, Ohio.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Steven) Creager of Napoleon, Ohio, Richard (LuAnn) Roberts of Tecumseh, and Teresa (Duane) Vaughn of Centerburg, Ohio; a sister, Georgia Mae (Leroy) Pfeiffer of Tallahassee, Fla.; sister-in-law, Diann Pittman of Monroeville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Michele Beavers of Liberty Center, Ohio, Amy (Rick) Runge of Port Clinton, Ohio, Jake (Robin) Creager of Napoleon, Ohio, Christen Creager of Winfield, Mo., Steven (Tiffanie) Creager of Napoleon, Ohio, Andrea (Ken) Boley of Addison, Mich., Crystal (Dean) Freudenberg of Tecumseh, and Kathryn (Austin) Murray of Columbus, Ohio; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Eva Mae (George) Pittman and Peter (Emma) Morris, and her husband Dick, Dell is preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Roberts; brothers, Lamar Pittman and Jack Morris; and a sister and her husband, Olene (Carroll) Martin.

Funeral services for Dell will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Dell will be interred at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens in Ft. Myers, Fla. next to her husband, Dick. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or a local hospice of choice.
