Bethel F. Hatch

Bethel F. Hatch (Beth) went peacefully to heaven on March 10, 2022 at the Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Ariz. She was born on January 4, 1922 in Independence, N.Y., the daughter of Lee G. and Letha Millspaugh. She was married to Raymond (Pat) L. Hatch who died on November 9, 1990.

Beth was preceded in death by her eldest son, Raymond (Brad) Hatch who passed away April 1, 2013. (Brad is survived by his wife, Vicki Hatch of Sarasota, Fla.), and is survived by her son Robin (Rob) M. Hatch and wife, Cindy Hatch who reside in Queen Creek, Ariz. Beth was blessed with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She also was blessed by her deceased husband, Pat, with three step-grandchildren and their respective families.

Beth began her nursing career in Buffalo, N.Y. where she obtained her education. She then moved to Ann Arbor, Mich., during WWII. When the war ended, she met and married her husband and settled in the Tecumseh area. She served as an industrial nurse, private practice and retired as a Lenawee County Health nurse. She believed that serving others was her calling.

Beth was well known in the Tecumseh community. She was a member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she was active in the church choir and bell choir. Beth also sang in the Sweet Adeline’s Women’s choir for over 20 years. She dearly loved her family and to travel. She made several trips with her church and family that included Greece and the UK. She was an avid walker right up to the eve of her 100th birthday. This included yearly Labor Day walks across the Mackinac Bridge.

In 2013 Beth moved to Mesa, Ariz. and became a resident of Fellowship Square-Mesa, a Christian-based community developed for independent living, assisted living and memory care needs. There she thrived and made many friends among the residents and staff. Beth lived for 100 years on this earth, but will live for eternity in heaven because she loved Jesus and invited him into her heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fellowship Square Oasis in Mesa, Ariz. on April 22. Cremation has taken place. A family gathering and burial will take place at the Macon, Mich. cemetery at a later date.
