Charles “Chuck” Glidden

Charles “Chuck” Glidden was born in Dover, N.H. and spent most of his life living in Michigan with his wife, Mary. He worked for several years as a painter and many other things but working at the Washtenaw Intermediate School District with special needs children and adults was his most fulfilling work, a role in which his kindness and humor shone. Foremost, Chuck was a selfless and loving husband, father, and Papa, whose greatest pride and truest joy was his children and grandchildren. He was a lover of kayaking/canoeing down rivers with friends, golfing in his league at Raisin Valley, and sitting on his back porch overlooking the water watching wildlife and the seasons change. He lit up every room he was in (literally and figuratively), and made every day feel like a celebration. To his friends and relatives, Chuck was one of the most generous people we were ever blessed to meet. His time, his laugh, his genuine love of life — he never hesitated to share all of it. For Chuck, to love and be loved was what his life was all about.

Survived by Mary Glidden (Simmons); his children, Rachel Brander (Patrick) and Jacob Glidden (Mayra Marquez); grandchildren, Ella and Ethan Brander, and Penelope Glidden; his sisters, Elizabeth Sawyer, Norma Harp (Darrell), and Janis Marconi (Michael); and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Maria and Norman Glidden (Procario); brothers, Henry, Harley, Norman Jr.; and sisters, Barbara Levesque and Effie Morgan.
