Charles Mathew Cook
Charles Mathew Cook was born on November 30, 1927, to Anna and William Cook in Saginaw, Mich. He died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, just before his 94th birthday in Ceresco, Mich. in the home of his daughter, Cathleen, son-in-law, Thomas and grandchildren, Alexandra and Joshua Knoll.
He served our country, enlisting in the Army Air Corp in 1945, stationed in Alaska as World War II wound down.
In 1948, Charles was married to Evelyn Bershing, also of Saginaw, and had two children, Steven John Cook and Cathleen M. (Cook) Knoll.
Charles was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. For many years, Charles was a home builder in Ypsilanti and Tecumseh, and later worked in government, retiring from the State of Michigan Veterans Trust Fund. His service to Veterans took him all over the state, working with local (county) offices.
Since retirement, Chuck was an avid reader and coin collector, and maintained his home in Tecumseh, and worked on remodeling homes for both his children. He served as primary caregiver to his wife, Lynn, and son, Steven, who predeceased him, as did all his siblings, a brother and five sisters.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
