Clara Ella Furgason

Clara Ella Furgason, age 94 walked on to see the Lord unafraid and she trembled not on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023 at Cambrian Assisted Living in Tecumseh.  

She was born November 28, 1928 in Deerfield a daughter of the late Fred O. and Laura (Bollinger) Fick. On October 22, 1949 she married Gaylon Duane Furgason and they shared 55 years together until his death on November 28, 2004.

Clara was a faithful member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Britton since 1956. She will be remembered for her gentle, soft-spoken, humble, family meal time prayers, spoken with all, written by Martin Luther.  Were you to be close by during Sunday worship at Emmanuel, you would definitely detect a smile in her singing that warmed hearts.

She loved playing cards with those that cared for her well-being and spent many winters drenched in the Florida sun and swimming pool.

Clara is survived by her son, Roger (Mary) Furgason of Britton; daughter-in-law, Marge Furgason; son-in-law, Jim DeBerry; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Dan) Rhoades of Chicago, Ill. and Nancy (Joseph) Downard of Britton; four great-grandchildren, Finnian, Devin, Ellasandra and Vincent. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Furgason, and a daughter, Sandra DeBerry.

Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Britton. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave McCarty officiating. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens in Tecumseh. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
