She was born on April 4, 1942, in Tawas City, Mich., the daughter of the late Leo Raymond and Mary Catherine (Whitney) Wellna. Dort graduated in 1960 from Tawas Area Schools and went on to attend beauty school. On August 13, 1966, Dort was joined in marriage with Larry “Doc” James Anschuetz; he survives her. For several years after her retirement, Dort and Doc spent their winters in Lake Wales, Fla. When their grandchildren arrived, Dort insisted it was time to sell; she dearly loved her grandchildren and treasured attending every school and sporting event. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh for over 52 years, where she received a 50-year certificate as a member of the Altar Society.
Dort is survived by her husband, Doc; her children, Chad (Alana) Anschuetz of West Bloomfield, Mich., Brad (Mary) Anschuetz of Adrian, Mich., and Larry (Suzanne) Anschuetz Jr. of Sylvania, Ohio; her grandchildren, Nolan (Demi) Anschuetz of Memphis, Tenn., Grant (Marissa Immel) Anschuetz of Rochester Hills, Mich., Colin (Brooke) Anschuetz of Memphis, Tenn., Lauren Anschuetz of Sylvania, Ohio, Joshua (Alexia Pez) Anschuetz of West Bloomfield, Mich., Carly Anschuetz of Cullowhee, N.C., and Ethan Anschuetz of West Bloomfield, Mich.; her sister, Geraldine Landry-Cooper of Williamston, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Ellen Allen and Joyce Salters; and her brother Chuck Wellna.
At her request, cremation has taken place. Visitation for Dort will be from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh.
