Gloria Mae Karle

Gloria Mae Karle, age 96 of Tecumseh, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Fieldstone Assisted Living. Gloria Mae Karle was born September 18, 1926 the daughter of Ezra and Grace (Underwood) Simmons in Tipton, Mich. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1945.

After attending Siena Heights College, she worked in banking and retail positions before starting a career at Tecumseh Products Company. She worked for the Products for several years and held positions in many departments.

She met her future husband, Bob, while vacationing at the Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club in Engadine, Mich. They were married in 1948 and had two children.

Gloria and her husband had a wonderful life and enjoyed many years of entertaining friends and family. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home and going on cruises. She was a very active and social person who enjoyed playing cards, euchre groups, bowling, exercising and going to dinner and movies with family and friends.

Gloria and Bob spent many winters in Florida and summers at their home on Lake Millecoquin near Engadine where they first met each other.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Kathy (David) Bird; son, James (Cheri) Karle; grandchildren, Robert (Kate) Bird, Jason (Fina) Karle, Andy (Cathryn) Bird, Chelsea (Matt) Brackett, Clayton Karle and Corbin Karle; great-grandchildren, Trevor Bird, Seth Bird, Logan Bird, Thaddeus Karle and Joah Brackett; and sister, Sandra Gregory.

Memorial visitation for Gloria will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh with Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Franklin Township Cemetery, Tipton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Condolences may be offered for the family at
