James Robert McMaster
James Robert McMaster, age 77 of Tecumseh, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022 at Springcreek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with his wife by his side. He was born January 4, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late James Robert and Ruth Marie (Reardon) McMaster. On June 30, 1979 in Cleveland, he married Sandra Lynn Shannon and they have shared 43 years together.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired from Quality Farm and Fleet as head of shipping and receiving. James loved to golf and over the years he and Sandra were members of Macon and Rustic Glen golf courses. He enjoyed going to shows and was a supporter of the Croswell Opera House in Adrian. He also enjoyed collecting stamps, doing the newspaper crossword puzzle every day and listening to old time radio shows.
Besides his wife, Sandra, he is survived by his siblings, Nancy (Dick) Sponenbergh and John (Jennifer) McMaster both of Tucson, Ariz.; brother-in-law, William (Ruth) Shannon of Lakeside, Ohio; sister-in-law, Carol Shannon of Denver, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Donald McMaster.
In accordance with James’ wishes, cremation has taken place. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee and the Croswell Opera House. Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be offered to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
