Jane E. Callison
Jane Elizabeth Callison, 76, of Tecumseh, Mich. died at her home under the care of her family and hospice on November 17, 2023.
She was born in Jackson, Mich. on August 1, 1947, to Joe and Juliann Scott, and raised in Chelsea, Mich. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Her positive attitude and perseverance in her fight with cancer was an inspiration to many.
Jane had an early career and passion for interior design. She worked at Great Ideas in Tecumseh for many years where she helped clients decorate their homes. She particularly loved working on designer houses featured in Tecumseh’s “Promenade of the Past” tours.
In 1986, she and her husband Ken started ididit, inc., a manufacturing company that makes steering columns for custom cars, golf carts, industrial vehicles, and other applications. It wasn’t easy being a woman in a male-dominated industry, but Jane loved business and was determined to succeed! ididit was a family affair with children Scott and Kimberly working at the company as well as son-in-law Greg and several grandchildren at various times. She won many awards in her career, including Goodguys “Woman of the Year” in 1997 and, along with Ken, was inducted into the HRIA Hall of Fame in 2017. She was generous with her time and skills and mentored many in the industry throughout the years. After nearly three decades at the helm of ididit, the family sold the business in 2015 so Jane and Ken could retire and enjoy some leisure time.
She loved to travel, decorate, and cook, but Jane’s greatest joy came from being with her family. So many traditions will be missed and treasured by her family like decorating for Christmas and making cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made the best molasses cookies ever!
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph Scott; and sister-in-law, Catherine Scott. She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Ken Callison; son, Scott (Jodi) Callison; daughter, Kimberly (Greg) Johnson; granddaughters, Nikki (Eric) Cooper, Meggan (Austin) Callison, Madison (Zach) Johnson-Robertson, Haylee (Andrew) Greene; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Abby Cooper; and brother, Basil (Sandy) Scott. She is also survived by several special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, 1448 Short St, Tecumseh, Mich. A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at noon at St. Elizabeth Church, 512 N Union St, Tecumseh. Visitation at the church began at 11 a.m. and a reception followed mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations to Special Olympics Area 19, a cause that was dear to her heart as her Godson, Ben Callison, participates every year.
Condolences may be sent to the family at andersonfuneralservices.com. Memorial contributions may be given to help with funeral expenses. Envelopes are available at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh Chapel.
