John Banda

John Banda, age 88, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away on September 16, 2023.

He was born May 6, 1935, in Roma, Texas, the son of Inocencio and Victoria (Rodriguez) Banda. On May 22, 1953, he married the love of his life, Helen West, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, and she survives.

John was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. John was retired from Tecumseh Products Company, with 53 years of service without ever calling in sick. He was a member of the Tecumseh American Legion, Underwood Orr Post #34.

John had a passion for gardening and caring for his lawn. He loved and adored his family, who he always put before himself.

In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by two daughters, Mary Lee and Sandra (John) Cavender; four sons, Juan Banda, Ino (Judy) Banda, Brian (Toni) Banda, and John (Amandra) Banda; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon, on Thursday, Sept. 21, at
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh with military honors provided by the United States Air Force, Tecumseh American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will also be on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral mass
at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
