John Stuart Culp, Jr.

John Stuart Culp, Jr., age 50, of Tecumseh, Mich. passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022. He was born on October 6, 1972 in Adrian, Mich., a son of Rita Louise (Peters) Drew and the late John Stuart Culp. He was employed as a controls engineer at Hi-Lex Controls in Hudson. John was a gifted fabricator and could create almost anything that was asked. He rode motocross for several years and was a former member of the American Motorcyclist Association. He had a true passion for the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and made conservation of the land and wildlife an important part of his life. He held family and friends close to his heart.

Along with his mother, Rita (Lyle) Drew of Manchester, Mich., he is survived by two children, J.P. Culp and Jessa Culp, both of Tecumseh; a brother, Russ Culp of Pinckney, Mich.; sister-in-law, Jennie Thompson of Cumberland, R.I.; his partner, Rae Vance of Tecumseh; nieces and nephews, Jack Culp of East Providence, R.I., Grace and Bailey Thompson, both of Cumberland, R.I., and Corbin Culp of Pinckney; stepmother, Nancy Culp of Cadillac, Mich.; stepsister, Kharmon (Carl) Cox of Willis, Mich.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Culp, and grandparents, Robert and Comila Peters, and John and Margaret Culp.

A celebration of life will be held for John on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the celebration.
